Mary Jane was the daughter of Frank and Agnes Bacon.
Her father, Frank, moved to Orange County around 1924. He married Agnes Ingraham Cawthon on 10/14/1927
Frank worked for the Southern Counties Gas Co for 41 years and was a member of the Santa Ana
Local No 3 of the Pacific Gas Workers Union.

Mary Jane Bacon (9/26/1930-4/10/2017)
She married Staff Sergeant Clarence Louis “Swede” Dalen (10/2/1936-5/4/2006) on 7/5/1952 when he was stationed at the El Toro Marine Base. Swede was born in Minnesota. Early in their marriage she accompanied him when he had stateside duty but returned to Tustin when he was overseas.
Swede saw duty in Korea and Viet Nam. When he retired from the Marines, he went to work for the
Orange County Sheriff Department’s security detail providing security at both the Courthouse and the Airport. They were active in the Santa Ana Elks where he became Exalted Ruler (1979-80).
Mary Jane worked for the First National Bank of Tustin for many years then for First Western Bank after they purchased the Tustin Bank. She stayed in touch with her high school friends and was involved in the planning of every high school reunion.
She also served as the treasurer of the Tustin Area Historical Society for several years.
They were both avid golfers playing monthly with the Elks and with the Men’s and Ladies clubs at the
El Toro Marine base course
